32 Hobie 16; 5 Hobie 17; 4 Hobie 14, 10 Hobie Waves and one Hobie 18 battled it out the 2021 Madcatter Regatta. After Covid and many travel restrictions. This is the first chance many of the sailors could unite and get some serious practice in before the Hobie 16 North American June 6-11, 2021 Ocean Springs Yacht Club, Ocean Springs, Mississippi. With Hobie sailors travelling as far as California and Puerto Rico to get the racing practice.
The Madcatter regatta has a reputation for changeable weather and the usual pattern is warm weather = light winds, cold weather brings lots of breeze and at times it can be quite cold. This year was an anomaly, Oneida Lake turned on the warm weather and some great winds to ensure some of the best sailing. The usual dance party had to be curtailed this year due to the COVID restrictions, but sailors gathered in small groups, and everyone enjoyed themselves both on and off the water.
Well done to Hobie Fleet 204 for turning on another great Hobie Regatta.
